Carving By Keenan

A Notre Dame leprechaun commissioned for a "die hard" fan. I normally don't paint carvings, however I believe caricatures and logos generally look better with color. He's about 28 inches tall (not including the base).

A pirate, slightly "larger than life" I carved for a water park in Des Moines, Iowa. The plan is for him to be placed outside and elevated for visibility from Merle Hay Road, although it may not happen until spring.

A "tiki" totem that I recently carved in southern Iowa. Not exactly what
you normally picture surrounded by snow, but it was commisioned as a Christmas present. I'm confident it will look more natural surrounded by grass this spring.

Pelican Chainsaw Sculpture

A recent customer at Lake Panorama (Panora) had me carve a medium sized oak tree into two pelicans on dock pilings, with a rope. Funny thing about this one, where the customer set up the video camera on the tripod and let it run all day long, I cut my finger toward the end, where the daylight changes noticeably.....right before I'm torching their eyes and the rope.  She then time lapsed the video taking it down to seven minutes, instead of about seven hours.  It was after dark when I finished it, so she came back the next day to shoot the finished picture(s).

Dragon

As of mid-May, this dragon is most of the way done, a project I've been wanting to do, and he's just under nine feet tall, carved from Elm.

Fighting Herky

This seven foot sycamore carved into a Fighting Herky is at the Front Row Bar, in Des Moines.  He was delivered before the game between Iowa and Iowa State, and seemed to bring the Hawkeyes good luck.  It was mostly a close game, but the Hawkeyes pulled through and won.
